Conversations Across Difference: Changing The Narrative
We are thrilled to be offering five two-part sessions of Conversations Across Difference (C.A.D.) this year. Our series theme for 2019 is a meditation on: how do we do our part in changing the narrative? C.A.D brings us together in a truly unique space to build intergenerational and interracial community, to listen to all voices and hear our own. Reaching outside of our daily social circles, we come together to share stories and reflect on what our role is in strengthening our community.
At Project Pilgrimage we are committed to interracial intergenerational dialogue – discussion that heals us and deepens our ties to each other. We program and facilitate conversations that center the realities of racial divisions. Come be a part of a vibrant community confronting systems and inequities, utilizing storytelling as a way forward in understanding ourselves and our personal narratives.
We program discussions which zero in on the ways we each experience our lives. those topics include the following: racialized foundations of the culture, external bias, systems of racism, implicit bias, the American experience – our identities and how they shape communities, racial stamina – who has it and who needs to build it and more.
Each workshop includes community building, storytelling, personal reflection and story circle as a way to understand our social structures and deepen our ties.
Each series will include an interracial intergenerational group of approximately 10-20 people (16 and older) *previous Civil Rights Pilgrimage participants are welcomed and encouraged to attend.
